The TAL DUB-II effect was used pretty extensively on the ‘Like a Photograph’ album from Minimal States. It is a superb piece of software, written by Peter Kunz, and is available here in AU and VST versions. Highly recommend.

“Rye is an ancient coastal town located in East Sussex, England. At the very top of the steep hill upon which the town is built sits St Mary’s Church, a building founded in the 12th century and visible for miles around over the otherwise flat landscape of fields and marshes.

I went there as a tourist in late July 2009, and recorded the sounds in and around St Mary’s. The raw audio was then cut, pasted, and layered in a sequencer to form a sonic-collage of the location”. (Thom Carter/Son Clair)

Awesome remix of the Minimal States track ‘Lake Effect’ by Matt Bowers included on CJAM 99.1 FMs ‘The Rhythm Gallery’ show. The track is as yet unreleased and will be part of the album of remixes of Minimal States tracks that is coming out on the Cyclene Records label next year.

Minimal States - ‘Like A Photograph’ - OUT NOW on Test Tube.

This is the first record in a trilogy of ambient music that I made under the name Minimal States. It is available now from the Test Tube label.

The three albums will contain ambient and experimental music that combines field recordings, generative synthesis, self-written software and self-made instruments alongside conventional analogue and digital synthesizers.

The first album, ‘Like A Photograph’, is a conceptual work of 2 tracks, each lasting exactly 15 minutes. Using field-recordings of the natrual world and multiple layers of different ambient textures, the music explores states of spatial change and the cycles of growth and devlopment within organic life-forms. Click here for download.
